Sugaring · Rocky Hill, CT

Sugaring hair removal in Rocky Hill, CT

Hair sugaring removes hair from the root with a warm paste of sugar, lemon and water. It is gentle on sensitive skin and a good choice for the bikini area if you get ingrown hairs from waxing.

How it works

What body sugaring hair removal is like

The paste is applied at body temperature against the direction of hair growth, then flicked off in the direction the hair grows. Because sugar paste only grips hair and dead skin, many clients find it gentler than wax, especially in sensitive areas. Some people call it sugar wax hair removal or sugar epilation; it is the same idea.

Sugaring works on the face and body, including the bikini area, underarms and legs. Let hair grow to about a quarter inch first, and expect smooth skin for about 3 to 5 weeks.

Not sure if sugaring or waxing is right for you? We will look at your skin and hair and recommend one. Sugaring costs the same as waxing for every area.

Sugaring FAQ

Sugaring vs. waxing and other questions

How much does sugaring cost?

Sugaring is the same price as waxing for every area. A Brazilian sugaring is $80, bikini $70, bikini line $40, underarm $30, half leg $65 and full leg $95.

What is sugaring hair removal?

Sugaring removes hair with a warm paste made from sugar, lemon and water. The paste is applied against the direction of hair growth and flicked off in the direction the hair grows, so it tends to pull less on the skin and can break fewer hairs.

Like waxing, it removes hair from the root, and results usually last 3 to 5 weeks.

Sugaring vs. waxing: which should I choose?

Both remove hair from the root and give similar results. Sugaring paste only sticks to hair and dead skin, so it is often gentler for sensitive skin and for areas prone to ingrown hairs. Wax is quicker over large areas and works well on coarse hair. We can help you choose at your appointment.

Can I try making sugar wax at home?

You can make sugar paste at home from sugar, lemon juice and water, but getting the right temperature and texture is tricky, and an uneven pull can bruise skin or break hairs. For the bikini area especially, a professional sugaring session is safer and gives cleaner results.

How should I prepare for my wax?

Let hair grow to about a quarter inch, roughly the length of a grain of rice. Shower, skip lotions and oils on the area that day, and wear loose, breathable clothing. Avoid exfoliating, tanning and retinoid products on the area for a couple of days before.

What should I do after a Brazilian wax?

For 24 to 48 hours, skip hot tubs, saunas, heavy workouts, tight clothing and fragranced products on the area. After that, exfoliate gently a few times a week and keep the skin moisturized to help prevent ingrown hairs.
