Lymphatic & buccal massage · Rocky Hill, CT

Lymphatic drainage massage and buccal massage

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a gentle, rhythmic massage that helps move lymph fluid to reduce puffiness and swelling. Buccal massage releases the jaw and cheeks from inside and outside the mouth. Both are available at The Guest House in Rocky Hill, CT.

Manual lymphatic drainage

What an MLD massage session is like

Manual lymph drainage uses light, slow strokes that follow the direction of lymph flow toward the lymph nodes. It is much softer than a deep tissue massage. Clients book this lymphatic drainage treatment, also called MLD therapy or manual lymphatic drainage therapy, to reduce puffiness, bloating and fluid retention and to feel lighter and more relaxed.

Before your first lymphatic drainage massage, we ask about your health history. If you have lymphedema, recent surgery, an infection, heart or kidney problems, or a history of blood clots, check with your doctor first. Manual lymphatic drainage for lymphedema is medical care: if you need a lymphedema massage therapist, look for a certified lymphedema therapist (CLT) working with your doctor.

Buccal massage

Facial massage from the inside out

Buccal massage works the cheek and jaw muscles from outside the face and, with gloved hands, from inside the mouth. It releases tension from clenching, can soften puffiness and helps define the contours of the face.

Lymphatic drainage and buccal massage are both part of our Signature Sessions, from $219.

Questions

Lymphatic drainage and buccal massage FAQ

What is manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) massage?

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle massage technique that uses light, rhythmic strokes to move lymph fluid toward the lymph nodes. Clients book it to reduce puffiness, bloating and swelling, and many find it deeply relaxing. It is much lighter than a deep tissue massage. At The Guest House it is part of our Signature Session ($219, 75 min) and Boosted Signature Session ($259, 90 min).

Can lymphatic drainage massage help with lymphedema?

Lymphedema is a medical condition, and it should be treated by a certified lymphedema therapist under your doctor's care. If you have lymphedema, recent surgery, an infection, heart or kidney problems, or a history of blood clots, talk to your doctor before booking any lymphatic massage.

How do I choose a lymphatic drainage massage therapist?

Ask what training they have in manual lymphatic drainage, how long sessions last, and what they recommend for your goals. A good therapist will ask about your health history first. Our Journal has a full guide on choosing a lymphatic drainage massage therapist.

What is buccal massage?

Buccal massage is a facial massage that works on the cheek and jaw muscles from both the outside and the inside of the mouth, using gloved hands. It releases tension, can soften puffiness and helps define the contours of the face. It is included in our Signature Session ($219) and Boosted Signature Session ($259).
