If you wax or shave your bikini area, you already know the skin there needs more than hair removal. Ingrown hairs, bumps, dryness and dark marks are common, and a regular body wash doesn't fix them. That's what vajacials, also called intimate area corrective skincare treatments, are for.
What is a vajacial?
A vajacial is a facial for the bikini area. It treats the skin on the pubic mound, bikini line and inner thighs, not the internal anatomy. Like a facial, it cleanses, exfoliates, clears congested follicles and calms the skin, but every step is chosen for skin that's regularly waxed, sugared or shaved.
What a vajacial helps with
- Ingrown hairs and bumps. Extractions release trapped hairs, and treatments calm the inflammation around them.
- Dark marks. Fewer ingrown hairs means fewer new marks. Brightening steps help existing ones fade over time.
- Dryness and texture. Hydrating serums and masks leave the skin softer and smoother.
- Irritation and redness. Soothing masks calm skin that's reactive after hair removal.
What happens during a vajacial
Our vajacial, The Hooded Lady Vajacial, takes you through these steps:
- Cleanse. A gentle cleanser prepares the skin.
- Warm towel and hydrating serum. Warmth softens the skin so the serum can penetrate.
- High frequency. A mild current targets ingrown hairs and helps detox congested follicles. You'll feel a light tingle.
- Extractions as needed. Trapped hairs and congestion are cleared carefully.
- Hydrojelly mask. A cooling mask finishes the treatment and calms the skin.
Each vajacial is tailored to your skin that day, and you leave with advice for caring for the area at home.
When to book a vajacial
Book your vajacial 7 to 10 days after your wax, never on the same day. Freshly waxed skin is too sensitive for exfoliation and extractions, and a week later is exactly when ingrown hairs start to surface. Booking in between waxes means you catch them early.
Want to treat your skin at the same visit as your wax instead? A Brazilian with a corrective treatment combines both, from $110.
How often should you get a vajacial?
Most clients book one between each wax, so about once a month. If you're dealing with a lot of ingrown hairs or dark marks, monthly vajacials plus good home care give the best results over two to three months.
Vajacial aftercare
- Wear loose, breathable cotton for the rest of the day.
- Skip hot tubs, saunas and heavy workouts for 24 hours.
- Don't pick at any spots that were extracted.
- Exfoliate gently two to three times a week from a few days later, and keep the area moisturized.
Is a vajacial worth it?
If you get ingrown hairs, razor bumps or dark marks after hair removal, yes. Home care helps, but extractions and professional treatments clear what scrubs can't reach. Clients who pair regular waxing with vajacials usually see smoother, more even skin within a few months.
